Tapping for Resetting the Mind and Body

Updated: Jul 10, 2024

Tapping is an energy healing method that involves lightly tapping the endpoints of meridians on the body (mainly the face) with fingers or palm, to improve mental and physical maladies.

I encountered tapping over ten years ago. At that time, while browsing the website of the American publisher Hay House*, I saw Nick Ortner* tapping his face with his fingertips while reciting negative words and then positive healing words, and thought to myself, "What's this?"

Having studied Linguistic Informatics in graduate school, which deals with the impact of cognition (human thoughts and emotions) on language, I was already interested in language and thought and their relations. However, I was moved to discover that such simple action could integrate words, mind, and body in healing. Driven by my curiosity, I enrolled in a course with EFT Japan, .

EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is commonly known as "tapping."

Let me briefly explain the basic concept of tapping.

EFT believes that at the root of all diseases and ailments lies emotional and energetic blockages.

By gently tapping the endpoints of meridians with fingers or palm, it helps to smooth the flow of subtle electrical currents running throughout the body. This gentle adjustment of stagnant bodily energy can restore the confusion of emotions and meridian energy linked to mental and physical illnesses, back to normal.

Therefore, we think that tapping along with hado measuring devices can promote a synergistic effect, enhancing outcomes.

The primary advantage of tapping is its simplicity. With just fingers and palm, specific points are lightly tapped while verbally expressing the current negative emotions being experienced. When tapping these points, even negative emotions are recognized by the brain as safe.

The most important aspect is to feel and accept these emotions in both mind and body. Then, after deep breathing, while envisioning or verbalizing the desired state, you continue to tap in the same manner.

Although the process is simple, its effects are profound. In the United States, tapping is used in medical settings for the mental care of veterans, and for various mental and physical illnesses, with many reported cases of recovery.

At our salon, the head therapist, who is certified by EFT Japan, also offers tapping sessions for those interested. If you're curious about tapping, why not try a session? (In Japanese only, for the time being.)

Please note, however, that our salon uses tapping not as a cure for mental or physical illnesses but as a method to release negative emotions along with hado measuring devices. If you are seeking healing effects for any illness, we can refer you to a professional therapist from EFT Japan.

* Hay House, established by Louise L. Hay in 1987, is an American publishing company specializing in self-help, mental health, and spirituality books and audiobooks.

* Nick Ortner is a leading proponent of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
